Project brief
- Client
- Brazilian Olympic Committee / Meta
- Project
- Time Brasil WhatsApp experience
- Year
- 2024
- Role
- UX / Product Designer
- Responsibilities
- Research, journey mapping, prototyping, conversational flows, UI direction and stakeholder collaboration.
01
Challenge
WhatsApp offered reach and familiarity, but the experience needed to balance timely Olympic information, user preferences, opt-in rules and partner content across a long, branching conversation.
The challenge was to organize those elements into a clear experience that kept supporter needs at the center while making room for partner content.

02
Research and audience needs
The experience was organized around four practical supporter needs.
- Timely Olympic updates
- Athlete information
- Medal standings
- Content based on stated interests
03
Conversation architecture
The journey mapped registration, opt-in, preferences, common routes and error states before detailed flows were broken into smaller units for phased implementation.

04
Product decisions
Preferences first
Problem: one feed could not reflect each supporter’s interests.
Effect: registration, opt-in and preferences created a basis for tailored updates.
Connected information
Problem: useful Olympic content could become disconnected routes.
Effect: athlete profiles, medal tables and updates became related paths in one conversation.
Defined branded moments
Problem: partner content could overtake core supporter tasks.
Effect: Powerade appeared in specific branded placements within the Time Brasil experience.
05
UI and branded experience
The UI paired Brazilian colors, athlete imagery and the Ginga mascot with the recognizable structure of a WhatsApp conversation.

06
Collaboration and constraints
Stakeholders from the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Meta and Powerade reviewed the experience throughout delivery. Smaller approval units allowed implementation to progress as individual sections were signed off.
07
Launched experience
The public experience brought Olympic updates, athlete profiles, medal standings, personalized content and branded interactions together in WhatsApp.
08
Outcomes and limitations
The project resulted in a publicly launched WhatsApp experience combining Olympic updates, athlete profiles, medal standings, personalized content and branded interactions.
Public coverage confirms the launch. Engagement and conversion metrics were not available for this portfolio case, so the outcome is presented through the delivered experience, implementation evidence and published coverage.
